The game is quite entertaining as long as everyone knows how to revive. It's not challenging so much as it just frustrating. Thus, your strategy is very often to do as much damage as possible in the few seconds you are alive, die, revive, then continue this cycle for as long as it takes to kill the enemies. You can do damage, but sacrifice your ability to keep the enemies from surrounding and pummeling you to death in seconds. You can use many spells to keep them at bay (such as spraying water), but can do little to no damage while doing so. Each section becomes nothing more than a war of attrition. Unfortunately, the key phrase there is "with enough patience." While you can beat the game playing by yourself, it simply is not fun. If you can cast the revive spell before dying a second time, you can turn this into an ongoing cycle and overcome most anything the game throws at you with enough patience. You have a sprite that follows you around and resurrects you when you die (and then dies itself). This is hilarious fun multiplayer, but in single player it gets old fast. The problem stems from the fact that the game is designed to incorporate constant player deaths. Third outcome is you've played Magicka, and you're worn out meaning you will not enjoy this game, or the last outcome which is you want more Magicka after playing the first one, which probably means you will really enjoy this game. Second is you've never played Magicka, and you loved it when you played the second one. There are 4 real outcomes to how you view this game - first is never playing Magicka, and after trying two, you don't like the formula. It's fun to combine spells to see what they would create.
